Physical fitness and its association with anthropometric parameters in medical students

Background: Although determined partly by genetics, physical fitness can be affected a series of factors, such as sedentary behaviors, activity, and obesity. In general, medical students have considerable information about healthy lifestyle dietary habits compared to other professional courses. Unfortunately, knowledge does not always translate into practice in terms maintaining good health. Aims Objectives: The study aims assess the evaluate its association with body mass index (BMI) students. Materials Methods: This cross sectional was conducted Department Physiology among 1st-year Government Medical College, Srinagar, from December 2022 February 2023. A total 116 age group 18–22 years participated study. Descriptive data for (years), gender height (m), weight (Kg) were obtained BMI calculated. Physical (PFI) measured using modified Harvard step test. Results: prevalence overweight/obesity according 41.3% (34.4% overweight 6.0% obese). Among participants, 81.7% participants had PFI average excellent while 18.3% low poor. found weak negative (r-value=−0.07) between fitness, which statistically significant. Conclusion: present majority PFI, obesity quite high them.
